Heritage Corridor

:''You may be looking for National Heritage Corridor.''
The Heritage Corridor Line (HC) is a Metra commuter rail line in Chicago, Illinois, and its suburbs. Metra does not refer to its lines by colors, but the timetable accents for the Heritage Corridor line are "Alton Maroon". (The Alton Railroad once ran trains on this route.) The name Heritage Corridor refers to the Illinois and Michigan Canal Heritage Corridor. Established in 1984, it runs parallel to the line.〔Baty (2004), 237-238.〕
The Heritage Corridor runs during weekday rush hours only in the peak direction (to Chicago in AM rush, to Joliet in PM rush). Compared to the Rock Island District, the Heritage Corridor takes less than 1 hour to reach Joliet.
The Heritage Corridor has the lowest ridership of any Metra line, serving only 2,700 passengers on an average weekday. This is possibly due to the extremely low number of trains and the remote suburbs it runs through. In some areas, notably Lockport and Summit, Pace buses provide midday and weekend service to Chicago and daily Metra stations.

The line runs from Union Station in downtown Chicago through southwestern suburbs to Joliet, Illinois. In April 2013 the public timetable shows three Chicago to Joliet trains each weekday.
Amtrak's ''Texas Eagle'' and ''Lincoln Service'' use these tracks from Union Station to Joliet. The ''Texas Eagle'' only stops at Chicago and Joliet, while the ''Lincoln Service'' also stops at Summit.
Plans for a new station on the Heritage Corridor to be located in Romeoville have been announced. The station and accompanying parking would be on property of the Citgo oil refinery between Lemont and Lockport.〔http://www.romeoville.org/enews/PressReleases/VORPressRelease4-18-08ce.pdf〕〔http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/heraldnews/news/1990000,4_1_JO14_METRA_S1-100114.article〕
